Travel Hacks: Skincare, Beauty, and Makeup

I'm traveling again soon, so I find myself preparing and packing a few stuff everyday till my flight. The earlier the better, so I can edit them again day-by-day before I actually leave. You know how much I love my facial regimen, but as much as I would like to bring my whole skincare and makeup kit, my luggage allowance wouldn't permit me to do it, hehe. Thanks to my past trips, I've learned a few tips and "hacks" on what beauty and makeup products to bring for my travels, and so I thought of sharing them here!

If you have more strategies to share, then please do comment them on this post so we can learn from each other!

Here goes mine.....

1) Instead of packing bottles of serums, ampoules, and essences, why not just bring sheet masks?

They are lighter and also works as good as your favorite gels and creams. My current favorite are the sheet masks from Mediheal, now available in Watsons and online via Lazada.

2) Instead of bringing aerosol spray with dry shampoo or your bulky hair ironing and curling tools, try these hair products instead: Beach Born's Sea Salt Spray that gives your hair texture, and Human Nature's 100% Natural Conditioning Hair Mist for softer and mabango hair. Beach Born also has dry shampoo in small spray bottles so it's allowed even on your hand-carry.

3) For short trips, you can put a few of your favorite cream or gel products in small containers or those tiny contact lens cases instead of bringing the whole thing. Make sure to label them so you won't mix up which is which!

4) Same with number 3, but this time you can buy those small travel kit bottles for your shampoo and conditioner. Btw, you also get a free pouch when you buy the Dove Intense Repair Regimen Pack (shampoo and conditioner) in Lazada for only Php 235.50! You can use these colorful pouch to store your small bottles for travel.

5) All-around products are your best friends!

Beach Born's Aloeha! is not only a lip balm, but can also be used as moisturizer for your cuticles and elbows, and highlighter for your lids. Meanwhile, celebrities swear by Lucas Papaw Ointment for all their moisturizing needs.

Instead of bringing individual pans of makeup, I use lip and cheek tint like Careline Jelly Tint and Bobbie Brown's Art Sticks that you can use as blush, lipstick, and if you are good with blending--maybe even to add color on your lids!

6) I am a fan of retractable makeup brushes because they are more hygienic to use and bring around on your travels. Got this from Daiso in Tokyo, but I also saw something similar in department stores like Landmark.

7) I put my cute, empty BB cushion cases to use again as individual storage for my makeup sponges. I am OC when it comes to stuff I use on my face, haha!

8) Small, tube type perfumes will save a lot of space on your vanity kit. Or try the 5mL perfume pods like this blue one from Travalo which, with its spill proof technology, you can easily refill with your favorite perfume.

9) Common technique: Simply buy sachets or small bottles of your essentials. PH Care has feminine wash in super small bottles and sachets, while my skincare favorite iWhite Korea also sell their products in sachets.

Or 10) Make use of the freebies and samples you get from hotels or some beauty stores that give them away! Don't we all have a stash of these at home??

Now, YOUR TURN! Comment away! ❤

Cool Summer and Travel Finds at The Metro Store (Alabang Town Center)

Monday is my Sunday. I usually go out to run mall errands, go to the gym, and restock on my groceries. Today I went to the nearest Metro Department Store from my place (Alabang Town Center) because they have a department store and grocery section, and also to check out the remaining promo items from yesterday's Sidewalk Sale. Sayang. They have so much good deals last weekend but so sad I missed out on some of them because of family matters!

Not to worry though, they have MORE summer and travel related sale items when I got there earlier!

Sharing some of them here:

I haven't shopped for new summer outfits and swimwear, so I decided to check out Metro Department Store's swimwear section. I realized that I did not go on a beach trip last summer of 2017, so my swimsuits are all outdated na or they do not fit na. 😅

The Metro Store has a new section for this season called Metro Cruise, dedicated to all our summer essentials from beach bags, bikinis, sunglasses, beach shorts, to cute hats. I love the floral rash guards from Sassa! They have them in big sizes up to 2XL, and they are only less than Php 1000!

I've been eyeing on the L'Oreal Infallible foundation after seeing it countless of times in Youtube tutorials promoting it as "anti hulas". It's for Php 700ish which I can easily buy online, but I wasn't sure of my shade so I waited. Buti nalang, coz in Metro Store they are currently discounted at Php 499!!! Best part is I also got the correct shade for my tone after testing it, and take note mali yung hula ko just by basing it on online swatches!!!

I got lots of comments when I uploaded an Instagram Story of these basket bags, also from the Metro Store! Did not expect to see them here, and was actually planning to get one pa naman online! So happy to see these variety of designs, and was able to try them on pa and see if the size will suite my preference. Best part is nothing above Php 1500!

Basket bags are not my usual style, but they are just so chic for this summer! I can't choose which one to get, but I started muna with the small cross-body basket bag at Php 999 only! I hope I won't regret not getting the others, haha...

Finally got a rainbow luggage strap, and it's for only Php 199!!! Need this since my favorite maleta is already giving up on me, hahaha!

Speaking of maleta, the Metro Store is having a big luggage sale at the Alabang Town Center! Check the buy one take one, buy one take TWO, and 50% off luggages that they have from different brands in their department store and also at the ATC activity center (in front of Burger King).

Take Note!! The Metro Travel Gear Sale is up to March 23 only! ❤
Happy shopping!!!

SUMMER READY! - OOTDs, Plus Size Swimwear, and Quick Underarm Whitening!

My events for this month are mostly summer-themed already! As sloooow as January is, suddenly March is just about to end that we have to welcome the peak of Summer 2018! ☀

I am in no way a summer girl, but I love a few things about this coming month:

1) Beach trips and vacations
2) Colorful and hippie outfits
3) Good times with my family and friends!

Photo at my most favorite beach yet, Puerto Princesa, Palawan:

Just so I won't be a big KJ this summer, here a few preparations to make this season enjoyable and a little bit more carefree!

Buy swimwear that fits me!

Where to get Plus-Sized Swimsuit in Manila?

Size matters to me, especially when it comes to my swimwear. It's about the right hug on the hip, and perfectly snug fit on my tummy and chest so I can enjoy the beach or pool without worries! I do love supporting our local brands, but sadly most local shops do not support my size huhu. :p I am glad that my search is over when I attended SM Woman's Summer 2018 launch, featuring their swimwear line Coco Cabana. They have updated one-piece, tankini, bikini, and even high-waist swimwear that goes up to 3XL! When I checked out the racks yesterday after my event in SM Makati, most of their pieces are below Php 1000, even for the plus-sized swimmies! I super love them!!!

Replace my sweaters with airy tees!

Easy Outfits When The Temperature Goes above 30 Degrees!

I am a big fan of Uniqlo for my travel outfits and even for my daily wear, and when it comes to summer pieces, they do not fail me too!

Aside from their linen tops and comfortable skirts, I recently discovered their AIRism line. I haven't gave it much attention before, but now I am addicted! They are a whole collection of lightweight clothing (shirts, sleeveless, etc) perfect for this heat because of its quick-drying technology. It releases heat and moisture, that I can even "layer" in this weather!

Other pieces to look forward to from Uniqlo this summer:

When it comes to summer footwear, my preference will be shoes that are made for walking, comfortable, easy to wear, and breathable. In short, I am back with my first love SANUK! They recently released their new collection of slip-ons, sneakers, and sandals, along with their comeback here in the country (now with Toby's Sports) and new brand ambassadors Bea Benedicto and Benj Manalo!

Avail safe and effective UA whitening sessions!

How to Effectively Get Even-toned Underarms in Less Than 15 Minutes!

And lastly, we all know that one of the biggest insecurities of Pinays are their underarms. I think I've invested (haha) a lot on mine during the past years, from whitening to hair removal. Just last week, I visited Strip Manila in SM Megamall Fashion Hall to try their STRIP WHITE Laser Therapy. This NON-INVASIVE procedure promises to improve the skin's texture, pore size, and fine lines, and at the same time brighten the skin pigmentation and even remove fine hairs! Perfect!

Btw, STRIP WHITE is not only for the underarms, but the procedure can also be for other most-neglected skin areas including the knees, buttocks, elbows, neck, stomach, bikini, inner thighs, Brazilian area, and your face! It can even help lighten sunspots, acne scars, freckles, lines, and wrinkles! To me, it's not even about white skin but more of an even skintone! Best part is that they are currently having 50% off promo in these services, valid until May 30! Make sure to set an appointment or visit Strip Manila as the 50-off promo is only available upon request.

Where to go this summer? Open for beach and other local vacation tips in my comment box below! 🌞 It's also my dad's birthday this April, and would love to bring my fam to somewhere new!

What's in Your Kdrama OST Playlist? + Last Night's Sennheiser Sound Heroes Awarding!

I am so sorry, but I've longtime lost most of my western songs to Kpop (specifically to Kdrama OSTs). 😅 Since I'll be traveling to Korea today, I am sharing here my list featuring some of my favorite songs on-repeat during flights!

Trying out this headset from leading German audio specialist Sennheiser during their Sound Heroes  event last March 20, 2018 at the Blackbird Nielsen Makati:
solo photo by @charlieshotme

I need to have my music during plane rides. I don't know how else I can entertain myself after ordering meals and browsing through all the in-flight reading materials in front of me, so I just turn to music. Other than that, mellow songs instantly calm me down just when I am about to have flight anxieties. So here are just ten of my favorite Kdrama OSTs:

Wonder - Standing Egg

Starting it with a love song, I don't understand a thing from the pure Korean lyrics but the melody is just so swabe and relaxing. Perfect for take off!

Super Power Girl - Every Single Day

To hype things for the trip, I listen to Strong Woman Do Bong Soon's theme song! Girl power!

Beautiful  - Crush

Back to mellow, the perfect song when you just want to stare outside the plane window through the clouds and the city getting small and smaller. Beautiful Life indeed!

You & I - Kim Jong Wan

Another nakaka-inlove Kdrama OST, this time from Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo. So relaxing to listen the guitar chords and the voice of Kim Jong Wan.

Say Yes - Loco, Punch

Another hype-me song, just SAY YES to every new experiences in this trip!

For You - BTOB

Upbeat song that makes me want to wave my hands side-to-side, up in the air! Haha! BTOB to keep me excited!

Please Say Something, Even Though It Is A Lie - Park Boram

This song just makes me so emo!!!

It's You - Henry

Another stare-out-of-the-window song. So in love with this English song. "You're the right time at the right moment"... Listen to this after your trip as you look back on the good times. Haha!

Best Luck - Chen

Turns out to be a longing song, Best Luck also has this nice tune that makes me want to tap my fingers on the plane's foldable table to the beat of the song, haha!

Everytime - Chen, Punch

Of course, ending this Kdrama playlist with another fun song from Descendants of the Sun!

I still have more, but feel free to comment your favorites too so I can add them on my playlist! ❤

New Coffee Addiction: Key Coffee Drip-On from Japan

$

I am a big coffee drinker. I usually consume a minimum of one mug per day at home after lunch. When it's a lazy day, I also drink another mug in the afternoon so I can write more blog posts or go to the gym energized.

I buy Nescafe Gold for my instant coffee because it tastes so good and easier to prepare than brewing. One time, I was with my sister and her friend who is into natural coffee. She has with her a French Press which she brought even when we dined in Jollibee. She said she prefers her own beans because some fast food serves coffee that are already watered down so hindi na masarap. She offered me to try her coffee, and I was hooked! I bought my own paraphernalia online, and when they finally arrived, they were left in the kitchen and I haven't used them since.

Around last week, I received a pack of drip coffee on the mail. It came with the small cup and single serve pot, and of course a pack of Key Coffee Drip-On "Variety Pack". I immediately tried one after lunch, and was so so convinced I'll buy more of this in the coming days!

Key Coffee turns out to be the PIONEER when it comes to drip coffee. They are one of the leading coffee brands in Japan and are known for their DRIP ON product which is FRESH ROASTED BEANS housed in a handy-sized filter.

Key Coffee Drip-On is definitely healthier than 3-in-1, and also a cheaper alternative to mainstream cafes! A pack of 10 Drip On costs Php 298 (or Php 29.80 per coffee), while the variety pack I got is for Php 410 (Php 41/coffee). You can check the other variants and prices in their website: https://www.keycoffeeph.com/. I had my sister try the coffee and she loves it too! She said this is perfect for office girls like her, it tastes good and very convenient to bring.

I super enjoy the whole ceremony of making my Drip On coffee:

As a big coffee drinker, the small cup is not enough so I use two packs of Drip-On for my giant mug, hehe!

Here are the different Drip On variants. The also have ground beans and instant coffee in their site.

If you're interested to try Key Coffee, they are currently offering 10% off on their site! Just use the promo code KCDRIP10. For more info, follow their Instagram page @KeyCoffeePH. Spread the word to your coffee lover friends!

God, Help The Tourist!: My Running Man Thematic Experience in Seoul + Namsan Guest House

$

0

I am a big commuter during travels.

If I have all the money, then I would taxi my way to all my destinations to avoid the back pains from carrying my huge maleta--but I am still far from that level HAHA! One thing that I truly appreciate though when commuting is you really soak yourself to a bit of the Korean's everyday lives. Seoul is a popular tourist destination already, so you will encounter not only huge flocks of locals, but also tourists, like you, manouvering their way around Seoul's vast public transportation system. Pulling a huge maleta? You are not alone!

The variety of people you encounter is endless, and as with anything, everyone and everything seems to have a story to tell.

In no time, I am back in Seoul to welcome Spring 2018. I cannot believe it has been a year since I went here with no plans except to tour my favorite Kdrama shooting locations printed on Instax films tucked in the inner pocket of my sling bag (March of 2017). This year, I felt as if my departure date arrived too soon, di pa ako ready! Honestly feeling ko I was still recovering from my winter adventures, ayan na sya agad. I started this trip with a little less enthusiasm compared from before. Maybe because it's already my 7th time in Seoul? Maybe it's because I wasn't feeling 100% before this trip? (had a little health scare and even went to the hospital for check-up). Didn't really figured out the reason for the first day slump, but it was nothing that good Myeongdong street foods can't fix!!!

Anyway, I carried on with all the usual airport duties including getting my local Korean sim card I booked via Klook (for unlimited internet during the whole trip), reloading my T-Money card in the airport CU convenience store (plus bought snacks and drinks for the bus), and then searching for the airport bus to Myeongdong.

It was easy, I just asked the lady at the information booth in the middle of the airport for the door exit number, and then saw the bus ticket counters outside where I asked for a ticket. Bus fee is 14,000 KRW (around Php 700). It's about 1.5 hours by bus from Incheon International Airport to Myeongdong.

I had my snacks, which I wasn't able to consume while on the bus because walang kumakain! Haha, nahiya naman ako!

I think what woke me up from the first hours of travel slump was, as usual, the kindness of strangers. I went down the bus in Myeongdong, but I am not sure what got into me that I took the subway exits so I can find my way to the guest house. Akala ko nakatakas na ako sa hagdan!

This happened twice during this trip, both times were in Seoul! I will rest and breathe in the middle platform of the long subway staircase, when an old man passing by will carry my luggage up for the rest of the climb! And in both times, I got teary eyed while struggling with my "Kamsahamnidaaa!" as the ahjussi carried on with his life without even looking back.

On my last day, I was walking around Myeongdong to buy last minute pasalubongs and pang benta when I chanced upon a father-daughter (obviously tourist) tandem in Myeongdong's infamous subway stairs. They have with them not just one, but THREE giant maletas.

I heard the dad instructing his daughter who is barely half the size of the luggage she's holding, "You know what we did earlier a, one step.."

I did not let it pass, and asked the dad, "Need help?" And before they even answered, I scooped the handle of the luggage assigned to the daughter, and breezed my way up the subway stairs. The tiny girl tailing behind me said her thank you, and like the Ahjussis of Seoul I encountered in my many times of need, I proceeded with my shopping without even looking back! Haha!

Namsan Guest House in Myeongdong

This is my nth guest house in Korea, but just my 3rd within Seoul. Namsan Guest House is one of the highest ranked accommodations in Agoda when arranged with cheapest price first, haha! I took it since I've heard about this hostel before, and after experiencing the most crowded, the smallest, and even the dirtiest guesthouses before, what can go wrong???

The walk from the bus stop to the hostel, as expected, is tedious. The area I chose is very near the N-San or Namsan Tower, thus the hostel's name. I did not realized that the walk, although it looks short on Google Maps, requires a looong climb up a steep road! Kamusta naman sa pag hila ng maleta, huhu!

When I saw a Namsan Guest House sign, it's just Namsan 1 palang pala and they have I think 3 or 4 branches heading up! Haha! Mabuti nalang Namsan Guest House 2 lang ata ako, I was there after the next block. (sorry will never figure out the Namsan Guest House numbers, when I booked sa Agoda it just stated Namsan Guest House. :p)

Entering the building, there are tiny cabinets where you have to put your shoes in. They are labeled by capsule so check which one is assigned to you:

This is at the common area at the basement level, where they also have the receiving area for check-in, and the pantry area for the inclusive breakfast and coffee.

While I was checking in, I even saw guests in Korean traditional costumes, taking their photos here by the wings wall. You can even try on the hanboks hanging on a single rack:

Simple breakfast, I saw breads and instant ramyeun and a coffee maker. I just availed the coffee.

Below are photos of the Namsan Guesthouse's Female Dormitory Room. Price per night is only about Php 840, which is already inclusive of all additional charges! There are 21 cubicles in one room, all girls of course, and they have separate toilet and shower area on the same floor. They gave me the upper bunk, which felt uncomfortable at first since I have to climb and go down every time I need to go to the loo. But I got used to it eventually.

I also got the horizontal upper locker, which was difficult also since I have to carry my luggage to and from it whenever I get my things. But I eventually created a system by putting all my packing cubes outside of my maleta and straight into the locker, so when I needed anything-- I just take out the individual packing cubes instead of my whole luggage. Paraparaan lang talaga haha!

With almost all my guesthouses for this trip, noise and cleanliness were my major issues. But bilang cowgirl naresolve ko naman sila. With noise, edi okay pede din ako mag ingay ang dami ko pa namang supot haha joke lang! I was too tired to get bothered, I easily passed out every night. As for the cleanliness, buti nalang I bring my own quick-dry towel and my own rubber slippers which I use instead the free ones they have in the toilet. I also use the rubber slippers around the room and wala naman naninita basta hindi sapatos, hehehe.

Book this hostel or see more photos of Namsan Guest House.

Olive Chicken BBQ in Kdrama Goblin

My first stop on my first half day in Seoul was to meet up with my friend Anj of Annyeong Oppa to try the Running Man Thematic Experience! I was early for our meet-up, so I decided to check my list of other things to do in Seoul, and saw some Kdrama locations also on the same train line. I went for it!

Passed by Korea's popular landmark, the Cheonggyecheon Stream. It is a loooong stream that used to be neglected, but now a natural beauty that passes by a lot of Seoul's popular destinations including Deoksugung Palace and Insadong. Oh, and if you're a Kdrama girl like me, it is also right in front of Sunny's new Olive Chicken resto in Goblin! 😂❤

Anj messaged me na, so I wasn't able to go in. Okay nadin, iwas gastos hehehe.

HOW TO GO: Go down Jonggak Station, Exit 4. Then search and follow on your Google Maps: 서울특별시 종로구 관철동 11-5(청계천로 81).

Running Man Thematic Experience in Seoul!

Running Man is one of the craziest variety show in Korea, and most prob a part of my Top 5 faves! You'll see most of your favorite Korean celebs there getting competitive and giving zero Fs just to complete the challenges! I didn't know that they have a "theme park" in Seoul if not for my friend Anj who has been in Korea for 3 weeks when I met up with her. We pre-booked the activity via Klook to avail their almost Php 200 off discount.

The Running Man Thematic Experience Center is located at the basement level of the SM Duty Free Shop. They are open from 10am to 8pm, though 7pm is their last admission. When you enter the venue, show your mobile confirmation from Klook and get processed for the activity right away. We receive our wrist bands to be used for collecting points. Once we tapped it, our one hour time limit will begin!

They have coin lockers by the entrance, so you can leave everything and just bring your phone and camera and 100% focus:

The starting point! You get to choose your team color: Red, Green, or Blue?

What's inside! When we went there it was a Thursday and around 5pm. There were about 2-3 group of friends lang na nandun, so yey no crowd!

Expect lots of jumping, thumping, throwing, and even screaming! Haha! Medyo physical sya ha!!! Nakakatawa coz it was my first day and I came straight from the airport, but look at me take on all the challenges like a true competitive girl! 😂

The fun part is, ang dami ding photo corners here and there just like any true Korean amusement center! Love this maze area with lots of full-length mirrors and colorful bars of lights:

Alam mong pagod na kami nung photo op nalang inatupag namin, hahaha!

Sobrang tawang tawa kami na terno kami from cap to brown backpack to shoes! Haha, hindi sadya!

All is fun in solo traveling, but nothing like being with your competitive buddy when you go here at the Running Man Theme Park! Make sure to wear your athletic clothes, and be extra on that day! Haha!

We all won Running Man pins as we head out after our one hour's up!

Again, if you're looking for an alternative activity in Seoul, check out Running Man via Klook!

HOW TO GO: Go to Jonggak Station Exit 3, turn left at the first corner and walk for 3 minutes. Or you copy-paste this (서울특별시 종로구 인사동5길 41 하나투어빌딩 SM명세점 지하1층) and follow on your Google Maps.

BTS Run Shooting Location: &Gather

Since we suddenly felt energetic after Running Man, Anj and I decided to go to the cafe where they recently shot the BTS Run episode 45. I had zero idea, but Anj lead the way! It was located in &Gather, a really pretty coffee shop at a higher district in Seoul. It was nighttime we got there, and surprise surprise.... &Gather was already closed huhu!!!

Pero alam nyo gaano ako ka-savage after the long train ride, the long walk, wala pang tulog, and the tiring Day 1 in Seoul--I still went in and politely asked the people cleaning the place if we can take a quick picture of the light signage. You know what, they said yes without any fuss! Always worth the try, just ask! They even opened the neon lights again for us, huhuhu!

My friend Anj of Annyeong Oppa:

V of BTS, the original version:

My version, haha!

Mission accomplished and I am sure I made my ARMY friend happy!!! ❤

HOW TO GO: Go to Hannam Station Exit 1. Then type in and follow this on your Google Maps: 용산구 한남동 96-3

As requested by @ellatorrico on my Instagram post, I will try to add my daily summary of itinerary and expenses at the end of each post....

How I Travel: My Usual Jam-Packed Day in Seoul (DAY 2 SPRING IN SEOUL)

I've said this a million times in my former blog posts, but if you're a new reader, here's how I fix my most recent Korea itineraries!

I do TRY to plan them on-the-dot, day-by-day, even BY THE HOUR just so I won't waste a day. But for Kdrama locations, I simply just make a LIST of locations I want to go to or I haven't been to and not be OC on the dates.

I will write down the place, then research the nearest train line either by Google or by checking out Google Maps. And after all these important information (nearest subway, nearest exit, name of the place in real life so I can navigate them through Google Maps), I will arrange all of them by train line so I can go to the closer ones in one day and hindi yung patalon talon ako sa malalayo at magkakalayong locations!

I love the outdoor train stations of Seoul during spring! It's not so cold, and the air is really nice and fresh!

Subway billboards in Korea usually features Kpop and Kdrama celebs, and these are paid by their fans especially during their birthday month!

Filling you in on how PACKED my day 2 went....

Madagascar - Cafe Where Kim Bok Joo Got Jealous!

You will remember this scene even when I don't show photos or clips from the series. This is the cafe where Kim Bok Joo got so jealous when she saw Joon Hyung on a blind date with his swimmer friend, haha! She called his phone and then warned that she's just watching him nearby! Dito ata sila unang nabuking na couple, hehehehe.

Madagascar is a beautiful cafe in real life. It has a rustic and artsy feel, I must say, even homey! Like most Korean coffee shops, they serve pastries along with coffee. I went here for a quick morning caffeine fix so tuhog nadin na Kdrama location pa sya!

There are only about three groups dined in when I was there, but it was also too quiet that I was afraid the shutter of my camera might disturb the person near me who was reading the day's newspaper! Haha!

Hot latte for energy!

It's a pretty place noh???

Gyeongui Line Forest Trail / Book Street - Date Spot in Several Kdramas including I Am Not A Robot and Because This Is My First Life!

A lot of Korean dramas dubbed this area as a date spot and a hot place for the youth! When I went there, it was tanghaling tapat and nakakapaso talaga ang init ng araw! I love the vibe though, it's not so crowded that I won't recognize it from the scenes on Kdramas. It also has a very artsy vibe, and said to be where Hongdae's vibrant culture originated! I also saw cube structures that resemble train cars, and inside you will see shelves of books like a mini library!

On the side of the streets there are cute indie cafes and shops, and even mainstream shops made to look indie and artsy. Meanwhile, on the center you will find a train railroad na hindi na dinadaanan ng train, and where you'll see locals and tourists alike enjoy taking their pictures. Hindi nakaka hiyang mag self-timer shots! Hehehe.

These are some of the Kdramas that were shot somewhere in Gyeongui Line Forest Trail:

HOW TO GO: Go to Hyochang Park Station Line 6 & Gyeongui–Jungang Line, Exit 4. The park is just outside the station, just walk and walk!

Style Nanda Pink Pool Cafe - Hongdae Branch!

This is my second Pink Pool Cafe, the genius created by Korean clothing and beauty brand Style Nanda to lure pink-loving, Instagram addicts into their store! Now not just for clothes, accessories, and makeup, they have a cafe in their Hongdae flagship store that's so pink, cute, and even has a pool! Aesthetics overload!

In between coffee, I can leave my things without worries on the dining area while I go around and take self-timer shots by the pool! Kyeopta land!

Even their foods, most are sweets, are so pretty and photogenic! You take your pick from a counter, then bring it to the cashier where you can also order your drink.

Also inside the store is the usual Style Nanda and 3CE boutique, with the cafe on the top floor, so before reaching there you will be tempted by the other pretty stuff they sell!

They know the game! Style Nanda Photo Booth where a couple was taking their sweet time! Haha!

House and Wall in Bride of Habaek

It's already mid afternoon and I still have some time to spare before meeting up with Anj, so I decided to check out the wall from Bride of Habaek! Haha! Here's what I realized from doing Kdrama tours: Go to the place not because it is where a Kdrama was shot pero sa totoo lang hindi mo naman talaga natatandaan or not so significant for you yung scene na naganap dun. Go where kahit balibaliktarin at napaka dami mo nang mapanood, you'll still remember the scenes from that exact same spot!

For me, that's the case for Ssangmun-Dong Alley (Reply 1988), the stage in I Am Not A Robot, and the brick wall in Bride of Habaek where Habaek always stand next to while waiting for So-ah to come home! Yung wall talaga!

It was a loooong walk from the train station! Nakaka loka! It's a residential area, and bahay din talaga yung pupuntahan ko! Bahay ni Habaek! Haha! Heading back, I remembered just taking a cab to return to the subway. It was a long walk, but I strolled with pacing and just enjoyed the sights. Ang daming cute stores you'll pass by, plus the weather that day is really good!

Cute stores sighting during my long walk:

And finally, hindi makaka-ila! It's the wall!!! Sayang wala na yung sulat of their names, huhu.

This is also the house (Goodberry Entertainment), and makikita mo lang sa side yung brick wall. Walang katao-tao so I was able to take pictures, selfies, and even self-timer shots! Be extra quiet though since residential area sya.

"Nothing is easyyyy ... yeah nothing is easyyy!"Haha!

How To Go: Ahyeon Station Exit 1 or 2. Long walk, just follow this on your Google Maps: 37.565169, 126.951081 or 114 Bugahyeon-ro, Seodaemun-gu, Seoul, South Korea

20 Space: Cube's Cafe

Met up with Anj again that night, who introduced me to her friend Jari who is also a Pinay now studying in Korea. We went to a coffee shop to wait for Jari's Korean friend so we can attend for the first time a Korean Bowing Ceremony. Her friend Emillie knows how to speak Filipino fluently coz she studied college here! Nakakaaliw!

Anyway, the cafe turned out to be 20 Space, Cube Entertainment's own coffee shop! Sayang I wasn't able to go around, but you'll see memorabilia on the side featuring some of Cube's talent. I had a cup of hot vanilla latte since it's starting to get cold again outside. It's a bit pricey, but good! Sabi nila some talents will do spontaneous fan service and visit the cafe, so pray na maswertehan ka during your visit!

When we walked out of the cafe, we also tried these delicious Korean street foods before heading to the venue of the ceremony.

Experiencing a Traditional Korean Bowing Ceremony!

Since no photos were allowed, I only got to take pictures after everything. I have no expectations from the activity, but I said yes because 1) I had nothing else new to do in Seoul, 2) I also welcome and crave for human interactions from time to time whenever I solo travel!, 3) I am willing to learn something new!

The bowing ceremony, as they say, can only happen once in your lifetime. We practiced for a few minutes, before heading inside a small room with all the other guests (all wearing hanboks). I cannot recount how many minutes or hours we were there, but it was a tiring but reflective moment. The main point of the ceremony is putting your mind to your own family members who has passed away. We also thanked our ancestors for continuing to watch over everyone who is still journeying here on earth. We did this while bowing down on our knees, and getting up again several times, repetitively, like how you see sometimes in period dramas.

After the ceremony, we had eating time and assessment time and the photo taking time. Through this, I learned and appreciated how Koreans are so much similar from us Filipinos in terms of being family oriented and religious even though we have different means of expressing them. And of course, at the end of every ritual or ceremony, don't we always conclude with sharing good food? ❤

---

I was feeling tired after the long day, but super happy to be in Korea (finally, haha!). While walking from one subway stop to the next platform, I felt a whole new level of appreciation for where I am now--I was floating! I've always dreamt of travelling to experience the beautiful seasons we don't have here in the Philippines but I just can't afford it then, but now here I am!

Back in Myeongdong and before exiting the subway to my guesthouse, I thought I was just imagining it in between my daydreaming when I heard someone call my name, "Ana!" Haha! It was Eli (a PR friend from way back) and her group of friends trying to find their way back to their place! After showing them my train app, of course di pedeng walang photo ops din, haha!

One day, someday, I have this feeling that I might decide to live in a country just for a while. It can be Korea or Japan, or maybe even someplace new and unfamiliar. Wherever the next adventure is, may I never lose this enthusiasm for life.

And may I always find time to pray and look back and pay respect to my ancestors (because without them, I am not here today). May I always be open to whatever life is offering in front of me. And may I always choose to be a helping hand first before thinking of my own rest and well-being.

How To Keep Hydrated This Summer + Review of the New Cream Silk Fresh Hydration

With summer comes dry skin, body dehydration, and even drier hair! Now that I am back for a while here in our tropical home, I prepared a few products (new and old) that I will use to keep myself hydrated for the coming days. Sharing to you my short list!

1) Sunblock that protects my skin from the sun + hydrates it at the same time + doesn't harm the environment! My go-to is Human Nature's Safe Protect Sunscreen:

2) A face mist like 3CE's, or you can just use refillable spritz bottle and put water or your favorite toner in it.

3) Sheet masks like these ones from Mediheal are my instant solution to dry facial patches!

4) Load up on water or B'lue Water-Based Drink that's filled with vitamins, and refreshing at the same time hydrating for the body!

And of course, 5) Do not neglect your hair this summer! Cream Silk Fresh Hydration is the brand's new variant that I absolutely love to use ever since I got home and tried this limited edition!

Here's my review of the product after 5 days of continuous use:

1) I love its smell! It stays on my hair even after it already dries, and after a long day! I feel fresh whenever my hair is still mabango at the end of the day.

2) My hair is softer and lighter, and not STICKY AND HEAVY. Usually this is the effect of conditioner on my limp hair, but the Cream Silk Fresh Hydration does not wear down my locks!

3) No un-rinsed feeling after use.

4) When it comes to packaging, I love the cool color blue, it reminds me so much of the ocean! Even the product is in light shade of blue. The Cream Silk Fresh Hydration also comes in two sizes so you can choose what suites your preference. The squeeze tube is also easier to use, and madaling simutin the contents without wasting any product!

5) I feel that my falling hair lessened since I used this, maybe it's because my comb glides through my hair more smoothly than before.

6) And lastly, it is also very affordable at only Php 109 (170mL) and Php 197.50 (340mL)! This product is also accessible and easy to purchase at leading supermarkets and drugstores nationwide.

More details at the back of the tube:

Summer is supposed to be carefree, but make sure to also take care of your body from head to toe to keep the fun rolling! Where are your summer destinations? And how do YOU keep yourselves hydrated from head to toe? 💙

Two destinations coming up this month, and I am SUPER EXCITED!!!

Off To Daegu!!! (Via KTX + My Budget Hostel in Daegu) + But First, My Thoughts on Traveling For The 'Gram

$

As usual and as with any other goodbyes, leaving my Seoul guesthouse gave me a certain weird tingling feeling on my tummy:

Creature of Habit: Paris Baguette for breakfast!

Navigating for the KTX train from Seoul Station is easy because of all the signs. Solo traveling? Make sure to keep your eyes wide open!

Before I go on with my Day 3 post, I have something I really want to talk about in this blog.

Even before the issue that my friend in blogging, David, brought up on his Instagram stories where someone said that they only went to India to take pictures, I've always wanted to explore this topic. First of all, "traveling for the 'gram" by definition is taking loads of well-curated, well-directed pictures to post on one's Instagram account. Is it really wrong to travel for the 'gram? And are we (bloggers / social media peeps) really just traveling to take these pictures?

I was able to bring up this issue to my younger sister last night, when she's driving on our way home. I really wanted to get her side since she's the type who will tell me her thoughts as is--kahit masakit or not in favor of me. Actually, my sisters are the ones who give me the balance that sometimes I don't see with my work and lifestyle, and they will be honest to me--not to harm me--but for my sake. Her reply is: "Bakit masama ba yun? Hindi naman ibig sabihin nag pho-photos e hindi sila nag enjoy a? Ako din naman panay ang photos nung Taiwan namin."

Nagulat ako! This is coming from someone na walang pake sa Instagram followers and feed, at naka private ang profile! Narealize ko na even during the times of my parents when they travel, they already take lots of pictures to print for their photo albums. My sister added, "Ako gusto ko ng madaming pictures kasi gumagawa padin ako ng scrapbook."

Nagkataon lang siguro na ANG GANDA ng photos nila David during that trip na nag mumukhang wala na sila ginawa kundi mag picture picture, but in fact, what do we know? That's just like 5 Instagram photos posted in a day, showing us maybe not even 1/4 of how their day went for us to quickly judge if yun lang talaga inatupag nila. And if yun nga lang, may masama nga ba dun? Hindi ba porket maganda ang photos hindi na nag enjoy and live the moment?

But for me personally I want a balance when it comes to taking pictures when traveling + "enjoying the moment". I take inspiration from everything I see whenever I tour, lalo na sa streets of Seoul where everything's fresh in my eyes from street styles to cool store fronts to beautiful parks we don't have here. I can't let the moment pass by without snapping a "souvenir", and sometimes even practice my little photography skill since the subjects are just too pretty to just pass by!

But I also had an experience of traveling with someone na photos lang talaga ang main intentions when traveling, and sometimes it gets soooobrang nakakainip for me. I want to see more and mag move on na sa next destination, but mali ba yung kasama ko? Hindi!

Now I realized na maybe may mga ganun lang din talaga since we are all different people so we have different travel styles?? Kung may mga travellers who will prefer hotels, may mga travellers din who will prefer or can only afford budget accommodations. May chill lang and lounge in cafes pag nag ttravel, may gusto jam-packed ang day. May gustong long-term travel, may iba satisfied na for a few days or yun lang ang kaya for their leaves or budget. May travellers who are into city, and those who prefer nature and adventures. And may mga nag ttravel to just stroll around, and may nag ttravel din to take lots of photos to share!

I guess, hanggang dito sa issue na ito to each his own padin? Walang mali at walang tama, respect lang for ano ang preferences ng individual person?

But for me, just make sure that if you are the type who travel to take photos:

1) You are truthful and you are not deceiving anyone through your photos (ex. taking pictures in a fancy hotel as if you're staying there where you're not booked there naman pala)

2) You are not disrespecting any person or culture, and you still abide by a country's law (ex. taking photos in a place na may signage or sinabihan ka na nga na bawal mag picture pero go ka padin, tsk tsk pet peeve!!!)

Why do it?

1) For memories' sake.

2) To share to your friends and family. I usually send updates on my family's FB groups whenever I travel solo by flooding them with my photos. My mom loves them.

3) To share travel tips online. For my blog, pictures make my travel posts more appealing. This is also subjective though!

Kung wala namang tinatapakan or dinidisrespect or niloloko, then let them be! If that's enjoyable for them, then who am I to judge people who prefers traveling for the 'gram?

Anyway, and so with that, let's move on to my Day 3 in South Korea... Or the day I traveled to beautiful DAEGU!

I was extra nervous for this adventure, since I am used to Korea inter-city traveling via plane. When I went to Jeju and Busan, both were via JejuAir. Anyway, so I went to Seoul Station where the KTX line is located early in the morning. I pre-booked a discounted Korea Rail Pass (KR PASS) online before this trip, which gives me TWO rides with KTX.

They have so many options via Klook, from 1-ride to unlimited rides, to 2-day flexible pass, to group passes. See this link to take your pick and see the prices! As for me, since my plan is to stay in Daegu for four days, and go back to Seoul for two more days before my flight back to Manila, I picked the Flexible 2-Day Pass which I used for Seoul to Daegu and then Daegu to Seoul.

SOME TIPS WHEN YOU BOOK YOUR KTX PASS VIA KLOOK!!!

1) You can also use this not only for Daegu, but also for Busan and 600 other stations! You can check out Korail's website for the list.

2) Decide on your travel dates. Write them down, and show them upon claiming your actual tickets.

3) Some people were asking me if pwedeng day-trip lang ang Daegu, and I'd say OF COURSE! Choose the pass na pwedeng balikan like the 2-Day Flexi Pass. Plan your itinerary well so you can maximize your day. If you ask what's my favorite in Daegu, it's most prob E-World! There's also a nearby park in E-World named Duryu Park that you can also explore for your one-day tour.

4) If you can, pack light! Mas madali! BUT if you're like me who brings her whole house plus buys so much along the way (haha), then it's all good as long as you can carry your maleta while navigating.

5) When you get the confirmation from Klook via email, PRINT THE VOUCHER WHILE AT HOME OR AT YOUR GUEST HOUSE!

One thing I did not realized was they are not so paperless here. Again, I am used to just showing my phone for my e-voucher, but in my experience here with KTX booked via Klook, they asked for a print out. This e-ticket that you need to print will be sent by Klook on your email upon payment.

What I did was after asking around, I had to print out my ticket in a public printer using my credit card to operate the machine. Medyo kinabahan ako! No one's there to help me man the machine, I just figured it out on my own and bahala nalang, I just attached my credit card in the machine. It gave me time to use the internet to open my email and then print out my ticket.

Location of Korail Business Zone for printing is right next to the Information Booth:

Life could have been easier if only I had this printed while at home lols:

Show your print out at the information booth next to the business center. Both of these are located at the ground floor lang of Seoul Station. After showing your voucher, they will give you a CARD version of your KR Pass.

After this, you go to the ticket booth (also on the same floor) to book your location and exact schedule (date and time) by showing your KR Pass. The person at the counter told me that when he inputs these details for the two days, hindi na pwede palitan so make sure to be extra OC with what you say or write! Check and double check if you must!

I received TWO of this receipt type of paper. Keep them! These are your train tickets with the date, time of train's arrival, and also your seat number.

I walked and asked and walked, pulling my luggage with me to the waiting area. There are huge black LED screens everywhere, flashing the trains arriving in 30 minutes or less. These boards will show which platform number you should head to. I waited in front of one of these, facing a huge stairs where passengers were also seated, waiting, eating, taking selfies. There are food booths in front so I made sure to stuff myself already, and had late lunch (very spicy veggie gyoza).

When my train number was flashed on the screen, I hurried for the platform number. Even with a luggage, it's not so bad because they have escalators or elevators. Ang dami mo ding kasamang may maleta coz most of the passengers are locals heading home or for their own vacations.

You can see the car number and seat numbers by the door of the train. Make sure you enter the correct car, and leave your luggage near the door. May lalagyan dun ng mga malalaking bags. Nakakatawa nung una tinabi ko talaga sakin yung maleta ko sa aisle, nakaka hiya hirap na hirap dumaan mga tao haha. Wala masyadong mag guguide sayo sa train so make sure to stay alert nalang. Kapa kapa nalang. Things went well naman for me, so all good!

And after all the nitty gritty, I was finally able to breathe. Travel time from Seoul to Daegu by KTX is about 1 hours and 40 minutes. I slept a little, but tried to stay alert by opening my phone's Google Maps. Naka mark na dyan ang DAEGU para kahit hindi ko marinig yung sound system alam ko if nandun nako. One of the perks of using KTX vs planes is you can still use your internet during the whole 1.5 hours ride, haha! And also, when you already have your ticket, you don't have to check-in or be in the train station in advance! You can also bring heavy luggage coz walang weight limits!

I was seated next to a military guy on the window seat, and two other military guys right across. I can't take my usual IG stories coz medyo nahiya naman ako. Walang food, but pwede mag baon at kumain. They have TV, but di ko na napansin anong pinapalabas. They also have a toilet on the train parang sa plane so hindi prob ang 1.5 hours.

When the train announced that it's Daegu Station already, people scrambled for the door. I stood up nadin. There were I think 1-2 stops before Daegu, so make sure to listen and go down the right station ok! :)

I pulled my bag down the platform, and headed for the exit. When I was outside, ang ganda! It was 17 degrees, a very beautiful indication of spring!!! Tama ang forecasts, yey! Did you know that only in this not too cool, not too warm weather can cherry blossoms fully bloom!!! 🌸🌸🌸

I strolled out of the main station for the local train. Again, wala akong research nito but I was able to get by just by looking at the signs. Before your trip, make sure to check the NEAREST SUBWAY STATION of your accommodation. There are also buses from Dongdaegu Terminal in case mas malapit sa accommodation mo is a bus stop but wasn't able to explore that na.

I took the local train line, and was immediately amazed by how similar yet different it is from Seoul's. Mas onti ang train lines (they only have THREE), mas hindi ganun kadami ang tao, mas hindi nag mamadali, but still, the trains and train stations are very efficient, on time, and convenient.

I can't seem to find any English Daegu railway app on Apple Store, so I just saved this photo on my phone:

The station where I came from is DONGDAEGU (don't confuse this with Daegu Station like me, haha), which is also on the same RED line as my hostel's nearest subway station JUNGANGNO. I also used my T-Money Card that I loaded in Seoul for the Daegu trains and buses.

It was love at first sight with Jungangno area. When I went out of the train, it was a beautiful city with ABC MART, CGV, Lotteria, and a whole lot of beauty and fashion shops. It looks like Myeongdong, but only less touristy! I am in love!!

I saw this crowd right in front of this building everyday I was in Daegu. One time I passed by na talaga doon para mang usyoso hehe, and they were holding up photo cards! Was never really able to find out sino sina-stan nila, haha!

The walk to my guest house is very convenient! I did not get lost, I just typed in the name of the hostel on my Google Maps and then followed it. I booked the CHEAPEST guest house that I found in Agoda, which is Go Hostel. Their price is only about Php 575 per night for a bunk bed in the female dormitory.

The reception is on the 2nd floor, so prepare to go up the stairs with your luggage to check-in. Leave your shoes and pick a slipper. I chose the rubber type which I was able to use nadin pati sa pag shower.

Put your shoes on one of these cabinets:

The lady at the reception helped me with my bag after paying and getting my room assignment, since it's still one floor up at the third level. Here's how the common area on the third floor looks like:

I paid in the hostel upon check-in, but reserved it online via Agoda. I was given a decent bed, a locker with my personal code, and a spacious room where I can freely open, get things, or fix my luggage without disturbing the person next to me.

There's a separate toilet and a single shower area just for those inside in our room. There's also a sign that says that we can also use the toilets / showers at the second floor, but di ko na inavail yun. There's also a powder area with 2 sinks and 1 hair dryer right in front of the shower / toilet. I wasn't able to take photos of these na, but they are pwede na. Was able to get by with them, and they even provide towels, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. For Php 575 wala na akong reklamo! Everything's super okay for the price. :)

Photos of the female dorm. Malaki ang spacing here compared to my dorm experiences in Seoul. Hindi ka makakadistorbo sa kaluskos, and may couch pa nga sa gitna where some of my roomies hangout and eat strawberries!

The toilet and shower room are both on the far end of our room. I made sure to choose the bed na malayo dito so I won't get disturbed by mga dumadaan lalo na pag sleeping time na (good decision!).

I picked the lower bunk na open ang curtains, malaki space sa harap so minsan I just leave my open maleta there haha! But of course I fix my stuff whenever I go out.

We all get a locker. My maleta doesn't fit so I just put it next to my bed, and ok lang because as mentioned earlier spacious ang room. Inside the locker, it fits my backpack where I placed all my shinopping and dirty clothes.

The lady by the reception who also seems to own the place toured me around the guest house, and taught me the basic stuff like how to operate the hot-cold drinking water, where to get extra towels, how to use the lockers, lock the doors, etc. She's super friendly, and told me if I ever see myself back in Daegu she will personally tour me around and even give me free accommodation! I later on found out that she used to own a Kbeauty store in the Philippines, but she had to leave. She always greets me with Mabuhay! and Kamusta! I super love this place because of the people!

I went out shortly to maximize my day 1 in Daegu! It was about 5pm already. I ate my leftover sandwich from breakfast while walking to the train.

My hostel is just next to the Fashion Jewelry Town. An interesting building, but never went inside.

I super welcome the change of scenery! And the fresh air na hindi ka super ngatog na ngatog! Will write my first stop in Daegu on a separate entry. :)

To be continued....

Akala ko nun una kong naisip iblog tong topic nato, I don't like traveling for Instagram. But then I realized, hindi ba yun din naman ginagawa ko? I'll be a hypocrite if I say don't travel to take photos and just live for the moment! Haha. Pwede namang balanse. Or pwede din namang DEPENDE sa tao at sa individual preferences.

Let's make it a more insightful discussion and not one that is hateful! We can all learn a thing or two from each other. :)

Anagon's Bucket List: Daegu's E-World Theme Park aka Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo's Shooting Location!

$

I think no other scene in this wonderful world of Korean drama made my heart flutter as much as Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo's theme park episode when Joon-hyung fulfilled Kim Bok Joo's secret bucket list.

Anagon's Bucket List #1: Go To E-World Amusement Park in Daegu!

During the whole Weightlifting Fairy craze, I was searching for the theme park shooting location and thought all along that it's just in Seoul. Naisip ko pa nga, is there even a theme park near Myeongdong, near the Namsan Tower? Thank God information on the internet is so fast, and so I found out right away that this theme park is not anywhere near Seoul, but in Daegu!

Fast forward to 2018, nung nag paplan na ako that I am going to Daegu for spring, top of my list is to finally visit E-World!

Ang galing nya stumyle! Haha!

To me, everything seems so perfect, how the story was built to lead to this scenario and location. Joon-hyung wanted to get Bok Joo's attention, and so when he saw her secret bucket list, he ticked them all one by one in a non-cringey and cute high school love kind of way--including going to the theme park! Even though he is afraid of heights, pinush nya talaga ang rides lalo na nung walang gustong sumama kay Bok Joo! Haha!

But I think one of my favorite parts was when Joon-hyung tried to hold Bok Joo's hands while they watched the beautiful fireworks at night along with the crowd, knowing that one of Bok Joo's biggest insecurities is having rough hands for being an athlete / weightlifter. But you will feel Joon-hyung's sincerity as he still held on while staring at her, wearing that cute boyish smile. HAY KILIG NA KILIG PARIN PALA KO #%^@! Hahahahah!

Anyway, imagine my excitement as I walked with the crowd (mostly couples haha) while entering E-World theme park in Daegu, the location for Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo's Episode 12 (di ko yan memorize a, Ginoogle ko muna lol)! I didn't know I'll be actually going here this soon!!

Straight from my KTX train ride from Seoul, I decided to make the most of my first afternoon in Daegu by going to E-World right after checking in my guest house. Sobrang excited ko ba so nawala din ang pagod haha! May nabasa din ako online na it's better to go to E-World at night since may discount na ang tickets, plus malapit na mag fireworks. I bought my ticket on the spot, and maikli lang naman ang line. I wasn't able to pre-book discounted tickets online, so I guess okay nadin na dun na bumili. If you want to buy online or just check the rates, go to this link.

I think I arrived at around past 5pm na, so naabutan ko pa na daytime, then sunset, and of course E-World at night where everything's bright and colorful with all the lights. Yeppuda!

Anagon's Bucket List #2: Get a cutesy theme park appropriate headband!

The moment I entered the theme park, sakto etong store nato ang bumungad sakin!

Naiimagine ko Bok Joo's friends running fast inside to get their hairbands!! I haven't rewatched this series for this trip, but everything's suddenly familiar!

Sadly they don't have any of the white angel headband that Bok Joo chose (baka planted na yun for the series hehehe) and so I settled for this pink one and walked around the theme park wearing it! What I love about going to Korean theme parks = wala silang pake, haha!

Even Joon-hyung's devil headband is not available!

Ahhhh I love this scene so much, tawang tawa padin ako!

Sakto naman, I am always in my athleisure wear whenever I have to travel (planes, long train rides)! SWEG na ba!? Hahaha!

Anagon's Bucket List #3: Check out the extreme rides featured in the series!

Self discovery during solo travels = I LOVE RIDES but I haven't tried riding one when I am alone! Huhu! Either I enjoy the experience more kung may kasigawan, or nakakainip naman pumila mag isa haha! And so I was just satisfied checking out the extreme rides at a distance.

Tawang tawa din ako sa Vikings scene nato that I almost risked it and lined up to try it, hahaha! I can relate kay Bok Joo and her poses coz I love this ride so much!

Screenshots from the series:

Anagon's Bucket List #4: OF COURSE.... CHURROS!

If I am not going to any rides, then what else is there to do in a theme park than EAT theme park foods!??

I walked and walked searching for a churros food stall in E-World. Was able to see gardens and funny kids playing by the water fountain during my stroll.

Finally... And in Kim Bok Joo's voice: CHURROOOOS! Ordered a stick and it's SO SO GOOD! I love Korean churros, ang sugary niya and the bread is crunchy outside, soft on the inside. Yum yum!

Di pa ako busog lol, I also got grilled corn and even popcorn, haha! Sayang I did not see the exact pink and blue cup of soda in the series. Again, baka planted nadin yun!

💘💘💘

Found the exact same spot in one of the most beautiful scenes in a Kdrama ever! (for me, okay! big fan e, hahaha) 💘💘💘 (((Insert the chorus of Dream by Han Hee Jung from WFKBJ's OST!))) I was silently shrieking while taking this picture hahaha!

Anagon's Bucket List #5: See the fireworks of E-World!

By nighttime, it started to get cold so I decided to go inside the 83 Tower to see the view of the city while in a heated indoor venue. I added I think 5000KRW to enter since I wasn't able to buy the pass with my entrance ticket earlier.

Near the tower and inside the tower are beautiful, lighted installations. Koreans are into aesthetics and photo ops! They take lots of pics, so hindi nakaka hiya mag set ng timer or mag selfie.

They have a mini love locks at the foot of the tower:

More lights display at the garden:

View from E-World's observatory:

I was resting by the door of E-World's 83 Tower after all the walks, when I heard it. Lights filled the night sky of Daegu, and people ran outside to watch! I scampered along with them when realized I am finally ticking the last item on my WFKBJ E-World bucket list! Huhuhu.

I know I don't have a Joon-hyung yet to make my dreams come true, but people will not know how much fulfilling it is if you can finally do things for yourself. The kilig came from knowing I made things happen without waiting on anyone to do it for me. I am mababaw and simple minded that way, and seeing lights and dreams happen right before my eyes made me a bit teary eyed and thankful even without a hand to hold.

One day, someday. But for now, I am truly happy for what I have in front of me.

I guess this post is here to say, don't just keep on dreaming, make things happen! Then dream again, dream again, dream again.......

I left E-World with tired, aching feet but heart filled with optimism. Thank you for the good vibes on my first night, Daegu!

PS: Here's how my laptop looked like after re-watching Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo while writing this blog post! Hahaha! I missed this series and I know over na ang hype niya now. But after seeing one episode again, natatawa padin pala ako and kinikilig padin. Top of the top favorite ko pala siguro talaga to because of how much I can relate to Bok Joo!

E-World is located near Duryu Station (Daegu Subway Line 2), Exit 15.

ALL ABOUT DAEGU: Chasing Spring + Where To Go + Where To Stay + How To Go Around, Etc.

I am a country repeater. Never thought I'd type that four or five years ago. I've always been the type na mag hihinayang if I go to same places again and again--instead of spending the travel budget to see a whole new place. But then again, am I seeing the exact same things whenever I go to Korea?

Well not really! I am so used to people saying "KOREA NANAMAN!?" or "Tumira ka na kaya dyan?" HAHA! But they don't understand, I cannot afford to live in Korea yet HAHA! The most is 10 days. Also, it's not as if I go there just to see the same places again and again. Masawain akong tao by nature. First, there's the different seasons that we don't have here so I still enjoy them (winter, spring, and autumn). And secondly, I choose to focus on different cities on my every visit. For Spring of 2018, my 7th time in South Korea, I decided to go to their non-touristy city which is DAEGU.

What's In Daegu?

I have to admit, I started from scratch on the day I began researching about Daegu. There were little travel blogs about this, especially from Pinoys. My only background of this city is that it was a setting in the Kdrama Oh My Venus. Other than that, I am totally clueless!

And so with that, here are some Daegu fast facts:

1) It is the fourth largest city in South Korea, making an effort to be known for their fashion industry.

2) It is only 1 hour and 40 minutes from Seoul via train.

3) The local Daegu Metropolitan Subway only has THREE lines, so it's less complicated to commute here via Seoul. I also use the same T-Money Card (reloadable) that I use in Seoul when commuting here.

They also have buses, although I had a hard time understanding it even though I follow the numbers. Daegu also has an airport for local and international flights.

4) Daegu is hometown to several popular Korean celebritites, including BTS' V and Suga, Irene of Red Velvet, and actress Song Hye Kyo.

5) They have really interesting festivals that you might want to coincide with when you plan a trip here, including the Dalgubeol Lantern Festival and a Chicken and Beer Festival!

How To Go and Where To Stay in Daegu?

I have a separate blog post on my KTX experience from Seoul to Daegu, and my affordable guest house while in the city.

How To Go Around Daegu?

From my research, Daegu has two main mode of transportations for your tour: one is the Daegu City Tour Bus. I wasn't able to explore this option, but it looks convenient since most of Daegu's tourist destinations are included in the stops.

But since I am more of a train / subway girl (haha), I explored Daegu by hopping on and off their easy train system. If you can navigate the more complex Seoul train stations, then Daegu's three main lines will be a piece of cake!

Again, I wasn't able to find an English app for Daegu's subway, but you can easily nagivate it by just saving this photo on your phone:

Click to enlarge photo. Point of entry via KTX is Dongdaegu Station. Ideally, I recommend the area where I stayed in for first timers, it's the main hub of the city much like Myeongdong or Hongdae of Seoul. It is near Jungangno Station, or Downtown Daegu.

Things To Do In Daegu

On my first day, I arrived around 4pm already but was able to go to E-World Theme Park from late afternoon to nighttime.

Keimyung University

It amuses me that schools are tourist destinations in Korea--parang Ehwa University when you're in Seoul. Keimyung University in Daegu is a huge campus with beautiful buildings, parks, and even a cultural village, I won't even think it's a school! I went there on a Sunday, so there were few people to almost no students around. Kinabahan pa ako nung una bakit walang ka-tao tao at may nag aaral ba talaga dito when I realized na oooh SUNDAY nga pala!!! Hehe.

The best part is, Keimyung University is also the prestigious Shinhwa High School in Boys Over Flowers!

How To Go: Gangchang Station, Line 2, Exit 6

If you're not into Kdrama, then check out the Keimyung Culture Village inside the campus. I think I also saw my first cherry blossoms for this Daegu trip in this area!

Former restaurant of BTS Suga's Mom

Also on the same station as Keimyung University, and just in time for lunch, I decided to visit the (former) restaurant BTS Suga's mom. Name of the place is "Big Hearted Grandma’s Blood Sausage Soup", but take note that the signage is in hangul so iminemorize ko na ang shape and color scheme ng signage and building (haha).

From Youtube videos of past ARMY tourists who've visited this place, on-display inside the resto were BTS albums, official light sticks, posters, dolls, and other merch. Parang may mini museum! Tapos they play mostly BTS songs in the resto!

After a long walk though, the place is sadly closed on that day. Saklap! I took a peek inside and mukang wala nading any signs of BTS, heard that it's already sold to a new owner. I decided to just grab a sandwich in a convenience store, huhu.

How To Go: Keimyung Station Green Line Exit 6. Then copy-paste and follow this on your Google Maps: 대구광역시 달서구 신당동 서당로9길 37

Duryu Park

If I've had arrived earlier on my day 1, I can easily visit Duryu Park and E-World Theme Park in one day as they are just next to each other as in isang tawid lang. Duryu Park is just an ordinary park where locals hangout, but I enjoyed going around to take artsy shots of spring time blooms with Daegu's 83 Tower as backdrop. I think dito ako qumouta ng bulaklak shots! Haha!

It's also in Duryu Park where I encountered someone who introduced himself as a street photographer in Daegu. He asked permission to take my pictures while taking photos under a tall cherry blossom tree. Ganda ng shot! It's a huge park and I don't think I was able to go around the whole length of it. Next time, bring a few snacks and drinks so you can chill by the benches of this huge park.

How To Go: Duryu Station GREEN Exit 14 / 15

CGV - Cheese in the Trap

It's not my first time to watch a movie in Korea without the subtitles, but this time I am more familiar with the plot since I've already watched the series version. Yung first one ko was in Seoul and sobrang clueless ko, it was an action movie but kamuntikan nako makatulog sa pagod hahaha!

After all the walks, it's nice to relax and add something chill in your itinerary without wasting your time. And I think going to the local cinema complete with a bucket of popcorn is one of them!!

I think it's also CGV's opening day of Cheese in the Trap, and I heard from friends online that the cast even went to Daegu to promote the film (Park Hae Jin HUHUHU! Sandara!!!). Sayang hindi ko sila naabutan kung anong CGV yun but for sure punong puno nadin naman sya!

Anyway, although I already know the story it's so hard to catch up on some scenes lalo na when they're telling a joke and the girls next to me were all laughing so hard halasha di ako maka relate hahaha! Favorite scene ko, and you know marami to sa Cheese in the Trap, is when there are jump scares dahil dun ako nakakabawi sa reaction! Gulat kung gulat, hahaha!

Over all, the film is good although iba padin talaga if series where it's longer and mas may character build-up. I also missed some of the original casts but the new ones are good din naman. :)

How To Go: Found several CGV branches in Jungangno Staton!

Downtown Daegu

This is my "neighborhood" in Daegu, where Kbeauty shops, restaurants, local and imported boutiques, and CGVs sprout here and there. It's the Myeongdong slash Hongdae of Daegu, where most people go to at night or on weekends to shop and hangout with friends.

Just by going around Dongseongno in Daegu will get you a glimpse of the city. Aside from the visible shops, they also have a small park, a Cafe Alley, a lane of vintage stores aka ukay ukay, an underground mall, nightly street performers, and nearby museums such as the Daegu Modern History. Again, if I ever have the chance to visit Daegu, I will most prob still stay here since it's central and they have a lot of things going on that I have yet to explore!

How To Go: Jungangno Station Red Line Exit 2

Head down for the underground mall if you plan to shop:

They have a Lotte Young Plaza and CGV:

Street performers take over this stage every night:

Discovered a street with just VINTAGE stores! Siguro kung kasama ko dito si Pax tapos wala pang luggage allowance limitations, walang pigilan sa shopping to!

A few blocks away from my guest house, they have a street called Cafe Alley!

In love with the park just outside Daegu's Modern History Museum. Went there on a Monday so the museum is closed, sayang. But the trip was not in vain as outside, cherry blossom and other spring blooms filled the park! Sobrang gandang ganda ako while the locals just pass by in the area at normal nalang sa kanila ito, hehe! Imagine having this sunny but not hulas weather kasi malamig padin? Tapos may magandang park walking distance lang sa area nyo so you can just chill at mag muni muni .... nakaka inggit!

Mt. Apsan / Apsan Park

On my last full day in Daegu, I decided to go on an adventure! It was hard for me to navigate the city through bus, but I tried harder for this nature trip so I can visit Daegu's largest eco-urban park Mt. Apsan.

My game plan is just take the cable car to reach the observatory and admire the wonders without the hardwork (lels), but I did not realized that (AS USUAL!) just going to the cable car already entailed a HIKE! Haha! Hindi na ako natuto na pag dito sa Korea, ang walking distance is gapang in my context! Hahaha!

How To Go: Anjirang Station Line 1, Exit 3

Had a hard time looking for the bus from Anjirang Station's exit. But I just asked around, double checked with the driver, before riding the bus. You can use your T-Money or pay in cash.

Quick stops and OOTDs everytime I see benches. Kita naman naka skirt pa ako, di ako ready!!

After navigating with my map, checking all the signage, and asking people that I encounter along the way, I finally saw the foot of the cable car heading to the observatory. Akala ko pa nun una sarado coz walang tao! Hahaha nakakaloka. Anyway, the cable car is on the dot, I got a roundtrip ticket by the booth for 9500KRW.

More walks to get to the observatory. I just followed the family in front of me. Cannot imagine going here at night although online reviews say that the city lights are more beautiful by then! Hindi kaya madilim na yun??

On another route opposite the observatory, there's a resto where I had my lunch. The owner also told me they have their own observatory upstairs, kakaloka meron din naman pala dun! Hahaha! The food is good, I ordered kimchi noodles na sobrang laki ng serving size, served cold, and had that right amount of spice!

Sincheon Riverside Daebong Gyo

Since it's a spring trip, my next agenda was another park. Also, it was a full Monday where most public establishments such as museums are closed in Korea, so talagang outdoor ang game plan.

I am not sure how I ended up with Sincheon Riverside Daebong Gyo, but it's one of those Daegu parks in the list where you can see cherry blossoms, and one that you can easily go to by just riding the train (wala nang bus). True enough, I fell in love with this simple park by the river. People ride their bikes or jog by the water, or just hangout by the benches. I also saw a few blooms here and there.

How To Go: Daebong-gyo Station YELLOW Exit 4

Daegu Dalseong Park

My last stop for this trip is another park, but this time it's the one featured in the Kdrama Uncontrollably Fond. I just saw this online, but had no idea which exact scene was shot here.

I just guessed that it might be the one where there are cherry blossom trees in a park, and where Kim Woo Bin's head was just resting on the lap of Suzy Bae. Huhu, I just loved that scene and the whole series!

Anyway, aside from being a free park with lots of benches to rest, Dalseong Park also has a free zoo inside! I am not a fan of zoos now because of all the information you will learn about them over the internet, like how the animals are sad when not in their natural habitat and just locked in a small cage, huhu. I left the place after watching the sunset, and realized it's my last sunset nadin in Daegu (for now, huhu) since I am leaving for Seoul by lunch time the next day.

How To Go: Seomun Market Station Line 2 Exit 5

Uneasy sya :(

Feeling ko talaga this is where the Uncontrollably Fond scene was shot, hehe! Although hindi pa full bloom ang mga trees.

The ARC Cultural Center

Naka huling hirit pa ako in the morning before my train ride back to Seoul. I got lost going to The ARC Cultural Center of Daegu the night before because of the confusing bus system, and so the next day I decided to take a taxi instead (coming from the nearest train station).

The ARC Cultural Center is a fairly new structure in Daegu, comparable to Seoul's Dongdaemun Design Plaza na sobrang standout ang style. It looks like a huge boat from afar, and since it's near a body of water, it looks like it's floating! Inside, you can freely roam around the free museum mostly on water and how they designed and built the ARC. Onti lang tao when I went there, and also, napakahirap na kumuha ng taxi when you want to leave na!! Akk!

TIP: Arkila ka na ng taxi na balikan when you go here. I had to WALK to the train station for about 20 minutes kasi madalang din ang bus dito (although meron).

How To Go: Daesil Station Line 2 Exit 2. There's a bus stop but di ko mahanap anong bus. Take a cab instead, it will cost just about Php 250! If I can re-do my trip here, I would also ask for the taxi driver to wait for me na and take a quick tour and photo ops of the ARC.

So that's it!! Even with lack of online references, I think I did okay naman for a Daegu first timer? In a way, I appreciate this city more the moment I got back in Myeongdong. Ang sikip ng trains and streets and soooobrang dami na talagang tourists. And although almost same naman sila ng itsura from trains and shops, iba yung feel ng pagka chill ni Daegu. Sabi ko nga sa isang IG story ko it feels like Alabang (where I live), while Seoul is Manila. It's a good break from the fast-paced city life of Seoul, and exciting pa sya kasi something to discover for myself without much online help. There will always be a special place in my heart for Daegu, after comparing it to Alabang--it indeed felt a bit more like home.

I guess I will end this post with a sample itinerary in case you will be following mine, and a one-day itinerary in case you're just planning a day-trip to Daegu! Thanks for reading! 😊

Yongma Land: Abandoned Theme Park in Seoul

My fascination for abandoned theme parks started when I saw an Instagram post around 2 years ago of a Pinay who went up the railings of a roller coaster in an abandoned amusement park in Japan. I forgot who the girl is and where the theme park is exactly located, but I found it cool and interesting to visit something that long before was a happy place. Pwede pala yun noh? Once a smash hit is now napabayaan na, or that you can still visit these places and still find them interesting. Sabi nga nila "full of stories"!

Anyway, when I got back from Seoul after my main mission of chasing spring in Daegu, hala I had no more plans. I still have TWO FULL DAYS, so naisip ko maybe it's time to visit that abandoned theme park in Seoul?! MABUTI NALANG TALAGA, my new friend Jari messaged me to let her know lang if I am back in Seoul and kailangan ko ng kasama, haha! I know I can do it by myself, but I think a trip to an abandoned theme park is more fun (and less scary!) with a friend!

Jari and I met in Mangu Station, said to be just 20 minutes away to Yongma Land. Upon exiting the subway, Jari asked a vendor for directions and was told to just ride a cab. And buti nalang, while watching the streets we passed by from Mangu Station to Yongma Land, hindi sya 10-minute walk lang! Hahaha. Taxi fare is just about 3000 KRW for 10 minutes.

The cab was able to enter just enough till a hilly area where cars cannot enter, and so we paid for the fare before the climb. You can already see some of the old rides from outside, and it's as if we were transported straight to a 1) Horror Movie 2) Dramatic Music Video 3) Editorial Shoot .. Haha! Good thing I saw Jari super enthusiastic with the morning's agenda! Didn't know someone will also take interest in this kind of location, so yehey!

The gates were closed as expected. Muntikan na namin talunan ni Jari, if hindi lang may dumating biglang ahjussi and asked us for a fee. May bayad padin pala, hahaha! Inside, there were I think two different couples with their tripods and selfie sticks taking pictures while on the rides. May rental pala dun ng tripod and selfie sticks if kailangan mo, hahaha! It's not a working theme park, but it did became popular thus may entrance fee and kumikita padin sila a! Bongga! I think we paid KRW 5000 for the entrance.

And what else is there to do inside an abandoned theme park? Take photos of course! Haha! Presenting, our little themed shoot in Yongma Land! Thank you dear Jari for my own photos! :)))

We went to almost all the rides and climbed whatever is climbable. Haha! Was it scary? Not really, maybe it's because we went in the morning and there were other groups who were there with us. I love that overcast din when we went to Yongma, so it wasn't so hot and uncomfortable!

Thank you internet, I also saw some music videos that were shot here over the years. Actually even inside the big castle may photo shoot that day kaya naka lock. Naiimagine ko sya for prenups! So yep, it's still profitable and even had that added charm after being called "abandoned"! Haha! Imagine if our own Water Fun or old theme parks get this idea and open their old resort as an abandoned theme park hehehe for sure madami ding aavail for photo shoots dun!!

How To Go: Mangu Station, then take a cab to Yongma Land (용마랜드).

BT21 Cafe in Seoul | BTS x LINE Friends!

Filed Under: Alternative Things To Do When In Seoul.

In all my Korea trips, I've never once set foot in Itaewon. I've heard a lot about it as a cool party place, and the perfect area to grab a bottle of beer (or soju) to loosen up and have fun with friends. It's funny that my first time in Itaewon is for something cutesy and wholesome--haha!

BT21 is Kpop boy band BTS and LINE Friends' collaboration and I am in love with it! The Bangtan boys created their own cute characters, which LINE Friends produced into merch (clothes, key chains, stickers, etc) and even food in their own cafe. You can see all these in Line Friends' flagship store located in Itaewon, so after Yongma Land abandoned theme park adventure, I asked Jari if we can have our coffee or dessert here kahit medyo malayo instead of just going to a random cafe (team tuhog, hehe). Thank God she's up for it! Woohoo!

Like most Line Stores in Korea, they have the HUGE Brown stuffed toy in the middle of the store, where guests take turns to have their photos with!

Up we go to the store visit's main agenda:

"PHOTO OK!"

This post is dedicated to all the pictures I took in that single trip to a boutique, haha! It's just a huge store with lots of kyeopta merch, but I had so much fun taking photos and checking out the stuff they have on sale. The best part is HINDI BAWAL MAG PICTURE! As in may signage pa by the entrance that photos are okay, yey! Sabi nila this Line store is now a tourist destination, especially for international BTS fans who are currently in Seoul. Most of their guests daw panay turista, haha! Aside from just going around and taking photos, I made sure to also try one of the items in their menu during this visit!

Classic LINE characters have their own photo zones one the ground floor and second floor:

Avail! Hahaha! Thank you Jari for taking my pics!

On the second floor, the BT21 merch are on display! I was supposed to buy a TATA shirt or pillow (depends on the price) and Ava's RJ key chain, but they are not selling them yet.. Relaunching daw soon huhu, sayang!

Again, photo zones! Yey, ang cute!

The BTS x LINE merch that are not yet for sale (eyeing the sweaters and the pillow). I hope they are affordable!!

Head up to the third floor for the BT21 cafe! They have Line character macarons, cakes, and other pastries, plus individual BT21 drinks and desserts as created by the BTS members who made them! They cost 5000 KRW each.

I ordered the TATA Berry Sundae and it is yummy and addicting! Bitin! Haha. I kept the card and cup that comes with your order:

Nanji Hangang Park + Heading Home :(

I think I've been to so many parks in Korea, especially for this spring trip since my agenda is to collect as much cherry blossoms experience as I can.

Besides, it's such a waste to stay indoors on a beautiful spring day!!

On my last full day in Korea, I did not pressure myself to move fast, but I think natural na sakin to hurry and not waste a day! Haha! So I got up and went about with my usual morning routine and packed my bags a bit. Then I went out for coffee.

One thing I realized from this trip is I wasn't able to avail the free hostel breakfasts coz I would rather check out nearby cafes. I went to my usual Paris Baguette one last time. What I love about this cafe is all the fooood selections. The sandwich and pastries are sobrang arranged that they are so pleasing to me, haha! I love choosing a different sandwich every time I dine!

Then I went to a park for a little nature trip in the morning. Plus points is that it is also a Kdrama location so medyo tuhog nadin! The place is called Nanji Hangang Park.

I've been the Han River / Hangang Park in Yeouido last year, and fell in love with it. It's the first thing that will come to mind when asked what's my favorite place in Korea. I love Myeongdong (and all the foods and shopping! 😋), I love Everland and Nami, but there's nothing like the mundane-ness of Hangang Park that makes me want to go back and make believe I live in Korea.

When I read about another Hangang Park, I decided to go with it since I have nothing else to do. The entrance to the park is Seoul's World Cup Stadium! First time to see this and go to this area.

Hmmm, the park looks so HUGE!

I was serious when I captioned this on my Instagram with "contemplating if I can walk the whole stretch for the Nanji Hangang Park, around 20-30 minutes chill stroll from Seoul World Cup Stadium". Haha! By this time super pagod na paa ko since it's already my last day. But I decided to just go for it since, again, what else is there to do!

More time to PAK PAK POSE hahaha! Wala masyadong tao, but there will be random joggers and bikers. So pag nakadaan na sila, sineset ko na agad timer ko. Hehe! At least may sure OOTD nako! :D

1...

2....

...3! 😂

It was a loooong ang never ending stretch, but good exercise, photo walk, and sight seeing nadin!

Half-way through my walk, I finally chanced upon a distinct Kdrama shooting location, which is the park in Strong Woman Do Bong Soon where Min Min rides his electronic hover board! Dinouble check ko talaga yan from background to ichura ng bridge, hahaha! Fun din naman to spot Kdrama locations, parang puzzle solved when you see the actual site and sure na sure ka na THIS! ETO YUN! Haha!

Pose muna, hehehe.

Ayun dumaan na si Min Min! Hehehe!

Hala Min Min bawal ata hover board dito, haha:

This cute Strong Woman Do Bong Soon picnic scene also took place in Nanji Hangang Park:

It could be any random grassy field area so hindi ko na sya spinot. Basta alam ko it's near the redish orange bridges so okay nako dun! 😃

I walked further and farther....

Saw a convenience store and bought coffee and snacks that I ate in the park:

Even saw these trailers that turned out to be toilets (and they're clean!!)

And then I decided to turn around, and walk back on the same route! Haha!

Ang saya noh!?? I am not sure if it's also your jam, haha, pero naeenjoy ko talaga yang ganyang strolling. Medyo nakaka pagod! Pero busog talaga sa mata.

How To Go: World Cup Stadium Station Line 6, Exit 1. Walk for 20 mins to Nanji Hangang Park.

###

Scam? Cult?

It was past lunch time by the time I boarded the train, so I decided to hop off Hongdae for my final location for this trip before heading back to Myeongdong for last minute shopping.

A little side kwento, while walking in Hongdae and navigating the Kdrama cafe, I was called by a Korean girl, maybe in her early 20s, and saw her with a western girl tailing behind her. The Korean girl asked me for the Line store, and bilang high pa ako sa BT21 experience kahapon nasabi ko tuloy "Oooh the BT21?" And napa "Huh?" nalang sya, haha! Naisip ko bigla teka ang layo naman dito nun Itaewon pa yun, baka ibang Line store... Then the Korean asked me why I looked surprised, and I said that I was also looking for something, and I am obviously a tourist so it's unexpected that a local will ask me for directions. The girl went on asking me about random things, ang weird weird weird coz obviously she's keeping me there with her small talks. Naconscious nako so I checked my bag, and tried to discreetly put my backpack in front IN CASE modus pala to. After all her questions like how many days I will stay there, why did I go to Korea, etc, I just said that I will go ahead and walked fast. Natakot talaga ako baka sumunod pa sila, hahaha!

Later on sa plane na naisip ko uli yung nanyari, and weirded out padin ako. Then I realized, hala baka pinag papracticean lang ako ng English, tapos yung Western girl behind her is her teacher! Hihi, ang cool naman! But later later on pa, and I am back here na sa Pilipinas, I was watching Youtube videos of a western girl na nakatira na sa Korea (Sharmander, hehe), when one of the suggested video was about a Korean scam. Pinanood ko out of curiousity and parang same thing that happened to me yung story nung Youtuber, same questions din, and two din sila HUHU. Sabi CULT daw yun, halasha hahaha. Hindi ko na alam anong dapat isipin, but in a way medyo na weirded out ako dun so let this be a warning to you if you're heading to Hongdae medyo be cautious lang lalo when you're alone, okay? Safety first, they might just be friendly locals but mahirap na mag trust.

Finally spotted the cafe I was looking for!

It's the same cafe from Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok Joo

And I am Not A Robot!

The cafe is so pretty and artsy, but medyo matagal naserve yung food ko, nalimutan ata haha! I was resting nadin so hinayaan ko nalang.

How To Go: Go down Hongik University Station Exit 8, then copy-paste and follow this on your Google Maps: 37.553641, 126.928863. Name of the place is Green Cloud Cafe.

Ended the trip in Myeongdong. Went to a grocery and also bought Kpop and Kdrama merch that I sold online.

This is a signage in my hostel. The walk to the bus stop for the airport is so convenient, you don't have to pass through the subway or stairs! Will blog pala my hostel next time!

You can easily spot the bus stop, may mga signs na ganyan. Also, may mga cab drivers din nakaabang in case they convince you na mag taxi ka nalang, haha! I was too early pa for my 2am flight so I just waited for the bus. Paid 15,000KRW for the ride.

Passed by Myeongdong, and our bus stopped for a while at may konting traffic, huhu. Mamimiss ko nanaman ang Myeongdong!

I did so many things at the airport, from scouting my food place, checking out the paid baggage counters, and passing through some of their free cultural museums, when I looked for the Spa On Air na nabasa ko online. Ang haba ng waiting time ko sayang, I should have went straight here than nagpaka pagod!

They have cool elevators in the middle of the airport:

Spa On Air is located in the basement of Incheon International Airport. Perfect for those with long layover and won't want to go out na or check in pa in a hotel. You can shower and sleep here! The style is mala Korean Jjimjilbang but mas pinasosyal, haha!

Here are the rates for the stay. Pedeng shower ka lang, or shower with sauna. The sauna is the area where you can sleep with mats and blocks for pillow. Madami ka katabi so medyo weird, haha, pero pwede na! Experience! Hehe. I paid for the Shower & Sauna for 10,000KRW for 4 hours just for the experience. I only had 2 hours to waste, though, but I took my sweet time in their small hot pools and nice showers.

The tan shirt and shorts are also provided by the spa:

A locker will be assigned to you. They also have a lot of free stuff and amenities like water, toiletries, hair dryer, towels, plus they have a vendo for your other needs like tooth brush, sanitary napkins, etc. In short, you can just go there unprepared and they will provide almost all your essentials for the night.

Gusto ko pa sana mag picture ng place, but then I saw signs na no cameras pala, haha! Sorry! I did not bring my phone na to the pool and shower area, but they look new and wala pang pictures online (only the old version). Maliit lang sya but wala masyadong tao when I was there. Felt like I owned the place! Haha! Avail nyo yung hot pool / Jacuzzi, super winner!

After the relaxing time in Spa On Air, sobrang sabaw ko na when I ran to the check-in counter for my flight. Hindi padin ako late, ganun ka grabe yun pag move nila ng time! Haha! In short, yung tax refund nagawa ko pa, tapos naubos ko pa yung Korean coins ko in the only opened store near my boarding gate (Dunkin Donuts).

I don't know how else to end this post, and feel ko medyo open-ended pa to dahil hindi ko pa pala nabblog yung guest house ko hahaha. I just want to finish everything before my flight to Bali this Friday! I think once you're reading this, I have scheduled this ng Saturday pa so most prob I will already be in Indonesia for the first time!

With that, thank you so much for staying with me throughout my whole Spring In Korea journey! This time, I am seriously not sure when I will be going back to my favorite country because of an upcoming big trip this July (pray for me!). But if I ever have the opportunity to go back, through work or through luck, then my heart knows where it wants to go--to the nearest park even with all the walks, and to the busy streets of good ol' Myeongdong.

Till next time, Korea!

You all know that I am big on hostels. It's not because I hate luxury hotels, in fact, I do love them but I just don't have the personal budget for them pa. But this doesn't mean I cannot enjoy traveling, I have other options without breaking the bank. Thank God for hostels and guest houses and even dormitories, I can explore my dream destinations at a good price!

I remembered this tidbit about me during Mountain Dew's event last April 13 at the 55 Events Place in QC.

"Price should never be a barrier in chasing your own personal thrills,” says Katrina Paras, Flavors Marketing Manager of PepsiCo. "Whether it’s extreme sports, gaming, vlogging, or anything, as long as it gives you a thrilling, exhilarating experience, then you should CHASE IT." I think my quest to see Korea in all four seasons and its different cities is my own Lupit Sa Sulit story. Imagine getting able to see these places and experience these seasons, but only spend Php 500 - 900 per night for my accommodation! Haha! Lupit!

Anyway, sharing pictures from this fun event! I got to spend time with new and old friends from the world wide web, meet the new #DewIdol James Reid, and also try the new #LupitSaSulit Php 8 for 8 oz Mountain Dew glass bottle! Ang sarap nya, and grabe yung 8 pesos lang sha!!!

With my bff in budget traveling Paxieness!

Some of the guests took the risk and shot some hoops to won the cool prizes from Mountain Dew (including Instax, powerbanks, etc.)

Even James Reid played with us! He has a cool guy vibe IRL huhu.

The other Dew Idols were also present during the event:

Ahhhh I am in love with Pamela Swing, she's the most hyper, makulit, but super down to earth vlogger!!!

A toast with the new Mountain Dew 8oz!

Eto ang pinaka malupit! Kuya John won a Nintendo Switch during the raffle! Akkk, congrats!!!

...AND Ruth won a FITBIT while Rodel won a DRONE!!! LUPIT SA SULIT! Hahaha!

What a fun event, thank you Mountain Dew!

Long-Overdue Root Canal + My Affinity Dental Clinic Makati Experience!

It's my third visit in Affinity Dental Clinic, the first was in Alabang for my first ever teeth whitening (na super effective!), and the second was already in Makati for consultation with a tooth problem I've been dealing with for I think two years now (kids, wag ako gayahin, haha). I felt a huge hole on my far end tooth, I think a result of my wisdom tooth extraction. Hinayaan ko nalang sya because hindi naman sumasakit. But I realized now that the worst pain I ever experienced is when my tooth aches, hindi talaga ako nakaka tulog. I should not wait for this to happen before addressing a tooth concern!

Anyway, I went back to the clinic last week before my long trip. My dentist Dra. KC said that I needed a root canal. Prior this appointment, my mom was already warning me of the pain from this kind of treatment. But with my experience with Dra. KC and Affinity Dental Clinic in Makati, there were no discomforts!!

But before that, here's a little tour of the Affinity Dental Clinic in Makati. Took so much pics because #aesthetics, haha! It is similar with the beautiful Alabang branch, but a bit bigger. What I noticed is super maaliwalas yung lobby, kung pede mag OOTD ginawa ko na hahaha. Comfortable mag wait, and no anxieties which I usually feel when I enter a dental clinic. It looks like a hotel, from the modern decors down to their restroom! It's very luxurious!

The pretty and very accommodating dentists and staff of Affinity Dental Clinic in Makati!

Inside the restroom, which is so spacious and hotel-ish:

They even have a VIP waiting room:

Here are some of the rooms in the clinic:

This little nook for kids is under the sea themed and so cute!!

Art works on display in the very clean and white corridors:

They even have their own Xray room in the clinic!

Here's where I had my check-up and root canal. I love that you can choose which movie to watch (they have Netflix hehehe) and everything's always clean!

My gosh, the treatment took more than an hour pero sobrang linis and (if I may say) pain-free! Btw, here's what root canal is according to Wikipedia:

"a treatment sequence for the infected pulp of a tooth which results in the elimination of infection and the protection of the decontaminated tooth from future microbialinvasion."

My affected tooth as seen on the Xray:

Dra. KC explained everything to me before, during, and after the treatment. She was also very open when I had questions such as anong bawal kainin (wala naman, but iwas hot food and eating 30 minutes after treatment), dos and donts, and if there are limitations after especially since I'll be traveling right after. I even received post-treatment reseta in case I experience a tooth ache, plus who to contact in case I encounter any problem.

Anyway, I will be back after my trip for the second round of the treatment, but so far the only pain I encountered was during my flight take-off (which was weird!). But before and after that, all good naman. :)

Thank you so much Affinity Dental Clinic Makati for taking care of my teeth, and for the successful super long-overdue root canal treatment! Promise I will take care of my teeth na from now on! :)

Hot Summer Spot: Inflatable Island Philippines!

A few weeks ago, I was able to kick-start Summer of 2018 with a water activity with my friend Ava. I may not be a girl of this season, dreading the heat and the tight outfits people go to in this temperature, but a good consolation is the chance to try out fun, outdoorsy activities I won't even attempt on rainy or cooler days.

This is the Inflatable Island PH, a fairly new, Instagram-worthy resort located in Subic (few hours away from Manila). We got there a bit late for the media event, but was able to maximize the short stay by directly availing the water maze aka the "Floating Zoo"! I bought a phone plastic protector so Ava and I can still take pictures and videos even when on the water. We were also able to watch the sunset while riding the flamingo floaters, and chill at the Pink Bali Lounge with our iced tea before heading home. Overall, I really enjoyed the amenities of this resort. Medyo bitin! But it is unique and fun, plus at the same time safe pa sya with all the protocols prior going to the water, and all the life guards on standby when we were playing.

Sharing some of the one million pics I took during my visit!! Haha!

If you just want to chill and take cute pictures, they have the new Pink Bali Lounge:

First Helicopter Ride!

Didn't know this day will come! You can now BOOK HELICOPTERS ONLINE like how you book Grab or UBER!! And it's my first time to ride a helicopter just to try this service from Ascent!!!

For me, here are the worst things that you may experience because of the really bad traffic situation in Metro Manila include: Missing your flight (akkk), not making it to your important meeting, or getting late to a show or concert. The thought of these just makes me cringe! Some of these things are priceless and you won't be able to turn back time for them. So if you are really desperate to get to your destination STAT, the solution is finally available to the public: TAKE A HELICOPTER AND SKIP THE MRT LINES AND TRAFFIC JAM OF EDSA!!!

Our route for that morning is from NAIA to Manila Peninsula Hotel in Makati, but I learned that they also have routes for Quezon City and BGC. Meet up is in Philjets which is Wazeable. The guard directed me to the main lounge where I waited for the others.

Our group includes models Fatima and Hideo, and James Deakin:

A few dos and donts and protocols before our ride:

Short service van ride from the lounge to our helicopter:

We had time to take pictures before boarding!

And finally, we're flying!!! Yey!!!

Making the most of this short trip by taking lots of photos and videos! Haha! It wasn't that scary when we were already up there, plus I enjoyed the city view:

See EDSA's traffic from bird's view point. Nilagpasan namin lahat nya!

Barely 10 minutes, and we were already landing in Peninsula's helipad.

Took few more shots before the Makati to NAIA route left:

I know a helicopter ride may cost an arm and a leg, but IN CASE that day comes when you needed an option, desperate for any alternative just to get to your destination ASAP--then go to this post and click this link to book your helicopter ride: https://ascent.flights/collections/fly-now. Price is from Php 7800 to Php 12,800, depending on the route.

For your questions, visit and message Ascent's Facebook Page or like their Instagram page @ascentflights.

Special thanks to Ascent Flights and Philjets for this bucket list worthy experience!
